LONDON SECTION
The London Section of the Club was founded in 1920 and enables members of
the Club visiting or living within a reasonable distance of London to meet
regularly for walks or climbs and other activities. They usually meet on the
second Saturday or Sunday of each month to walk about ten miles in the hillier
parts of the Home Counties. For two weekends a year they book into one of the
Club's five huts in the Lakes to fell walk, and in June they stay fro three
to four days in hilly country in England or Wales. They can also join in Club
meets in the Lakes or Scotland.
There are five winter lectures a year in a central London pub on mountaineering
expeditions; this is in conjunction with three other climbing and walking clubs.
Non-members of the Club who have experience of Lake District walking may
become "Friends of the London Section" and join in the activities of the section.
Those "Friends" who have appropriate experience and interest in the Lakes are
welcome to apply for membership of the Club.
