Linzell, Stanley James

Stanley James Linzell, M C, Croix de Guerre (France) was a Captain in theRoyal Army Medical Corps. He was killed on 3 April 1917, aged 28.

He is buried in the Foreste Communal Cemetery.

The son of H J Linzell, The Lodge Trimley St Mary Suffolk.

Stanley served with the 92nd Field Ambulance, part of the 32nd Division. In mid March 1917, this Division moved into the Department of the Aisne, following the German retreat to the Hindenburg Line and were holding the new front West of St Quentin.

The war diary of his cousin, Harold H Linzell, was published in 1981 under the title “Fallen on the Somme” Harold was killed at Fricourt 3 July 1916 while serving with 7th Battalion Border Regiment.
