Oppenheimer, Lehmann James

Lehmann James Oppenheimer was a Lieutenant in the 2/23rd Battalion London Regiment.

He died on 8 November 1916, aged 48 and was buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery.

Born at Manchester, his address in 1911 was 8 Manley Road, Alexandra Park Manchester. He was an artist, a designer of mosaics, and author of “The Heart of Lakeland”

He is said to have died following a gas attack; the cemetery register shows him to have died of bronchitis. As he died in hospital at Boulogne, and the date of admission is not known, it cannot be ascertained for certain where he was when taken ill.
