This area includes all the hills in a rough triangle bounded by the Crummock/Buttermere and Wasdale valleys and by Styhead Pass. It includes some of the famous summits around Wasdale Head - the birthplace of English rock climbing - as well as the more lonely valley of Ennerdale. In the west we have extended the area to the National Park boundary to include such tops as Knock Murton, Iron Crag and Swainson Knott. All-in-all, the Western Fells showcases some great walking country.
