Goat's Crag

This is the steep outcrop on the left side of the road as you approach Tilberthwaite, about 400 metres past the cattle grid. A clean wall and a prominent arete are the two main features.

Fractious Applause

Start directly in the centre of the clean streak in the deceptively overhanging wall.
(6b). Step onto the ledges at 1.5 metres. Gain the jugs above and make a crafty heel hook rock over, bypassing a small crimp, to gain a slot. Launch for the good holds above and follow a fault/rightward-slanting crack to a Rock 2 at 10.5 metres (first runner). Gain the good ledge above for a shake out and follow the leftward-slanting crack to a lower off.

"Gave this a scrub today and forgot how good it is. The crux is quite tricksy and unprotectable, the first runner is a long way up. In retrospect E6 6b would be a better grade." Stuart Wood 19/08/2012 19:30:13 Voted: ***
