New FRCC website launched

Published: 05/08/2008

Welcome to the new look Fell and Rock website. Launched in August 2008, this site was a year in development and follows extensive consultations with many club officers.  There are lots of interactive features including:

  • an up-to-the minute dynamic calendar of the state of cottage bookings (members only)
  • a section on each of the clubs huts, showing heavily booked dates (members only)
  • a dynamic New Climbs area where you can add and comment on climbs
  • a dynamic Walks area where you can add your favourite fell walks
  • a  fully featured members Forum (members only)
  • an online calendar of forthcoming meets
  • lots of dynamic photos
  • an area for publishing the club's extensive mountaineering archives
  • an members email newsletter that you can opt to receive (members only)
  • BMC-related information (members only)

The members E-Newsletter will be issued every quarter, and in addition, at any time when important news items need passing on to members. To receive your E-Newsletter sign up by clicking here

There are various access levels to the site.  Club Members need to login (Username and Password on the back of your membership card) in order to see the extensive member-only content.  Non-members can use a different login in order to add content and comments in the climbs and walks areas (details in those respective sections).

One of the benefits of the new website system is that all club officers have access and are able to add and edit content to the site at any time.  This means that the website should bring you the latest news very quickly.

Although it has been running for two years this website is dynamic and can be considered as "work in progress".  We expect to launch further refinements following feedback from members and users.  The Climbing area has been particularly complex to develop and further refinements to this system are envisaged.

We hope you enjoy the site.  Members can use the Forum to report their comments.  Non-members can contact Richard Tolley, the new website editor.
