The Facilities
Whether you've never climbed before or you've been doing it for years visit Kendal Wall situated at the gateway to The Lake District - the birthplace of British Climbing. All our staff is helpful and experienced and our aim is to create a friendly atmosphere that means you'll want to come back.
The spacious and airy climbing facility, built in the former creamery is overlooked by a viewing gallery and complimented by changing rooms and showers, with snacks and climbing accessories available from reception.
Generous off-peak and junior discounts are offered but you don't have to join, so one-off visits don't cost the earth. Special multiple entry and season cards are also available - that means the more you come the less you pay.
If you're in the Lakes and the weather's not looking good, or you're bored of the usual attractions, don't have a miserable day, come and give us a try.
Want to try rock climbing but don't know how or who with?
No problem. At Kendal Wall we'll show you the ropes - literally. We'll introduce you to others and get you started. Climbing is one of the most popular and exciting sports in Britain and we've got the best location for doing it! Remember - you're never too young or old to give it a try.
Our wide range of sessions and courses for all ages and abilities include:
- Taster sessions to give you a feel for the sport or if you've only got a short time in the area
- Beginners courses that teach the basics
- Improver sessions if you know a little but want to get better
- Junior Club for young climbers
- 'Real Rock' to get you outside - weather permitting of course
- Our instructors are nationally qualified and all safety equipment is provided.

The facts - check it out - do walls you visit have the following?
- Climbing at all grades with regularly changed routes of character - routes that start at Moderate and go up to E7 (that's F3 to F8a+ for sport climbers)

How to Get Here
Kendal Wall is easy to locate.
From the south: Follow signs for Kendal from the M6 (junction 36), then Kendal (south). Once in the Town Centre follow signs north for the A6 and Penrith. You'll pass the Kendal railway station on your left. After a mile or so, and just before Morrisons supermarket on your right, turn left into Mint Bridge Road (sign posted Lake District Business Park). Take the second entrance onto the Business Park. We are the first very tall glass fronted building on the right. This is 15 minutes walk from the Town Centre (10 minutes from Kendal Railway Station) or a few minutes in a car.
From the centre of the Lake District: Travelling from Windermere, take the first exit off the A591 Kendal Bypass signposted for Kendal and from the outskirts of Kendal follow signs for A6 and Penrith etc.
From the north: Follow the A6 from Shap towards Kendal and turn right into Mint Bridge Road just after Morrisons on your left.

Kendal Wall - why we're here
Kendal Wall has received Grant Aid from the Foundation for Sport and the arts and has been supported by the British Mountaineering Council as a targeted national facility within the BMC Cumbrian Development plan.
Kendal Wall is pleased to work closely with local companies and has received support from Lowe Alpine and Lyon Equipment.

| Taster Sessions
1½ hours of climbing for just £12 per person (£10 for age 14 and under). Entry fee, safety equipment and instruction all included. Telephone to book. Discounts available for groups of 4 or more booking together.
Instruction
- Four Week Instruction Courses: £45 for 4 X 2 hr sessions, £20 deposit to book place. Entry fee, hire equipment and instruction all included. Beginners or Improvers Courses available - telephone to check start dates.
- Weekend Conversion Courses to outdoor rock climbing also available.
- Junior Climbing Club: For 8 to 16 yr. olds. Supervised sessions on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings for young climbers.
- Geckos: For younger and less experienced kids, fun climbing sessions on Saturday mornings.
