Documents relating to the formation of the club and important events throughout our history are deposited at the County archive store in Kendal. This allows for safekeeping and arranged access to the record for members and public alike.
Cumbria Archive Centre collects preserves and facilitates access to the written heritage of South Cumbria including the former historic County of Westmorland, Sedbergh and part of the Furness area of Lancashire around Grange, Cartmel and Coniston.
The mountain landscape of the English Lake District is reflected in a number of collections including the FRCC, Friends of the Lake District and the papers of Alfred Wainwright, author of the pictorial guides to the Lakes.
The Archive Centre is open Wednesday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm. Access is free but a readers’ ticket is essential to view original archive documents.
