Eastern Crags

Cover

Whilst most definitive FRCC climbing guidebooks cover a single main valley, this edition includes crags from Thirlmere all the way eastwards to Swindale and southwards to Longsledale.

Included are some of the most iconic and historic crags in the Lake District, such as Castle Rock, Raven Crag Thirlmere, Dove Crag Patterdale, and a host of others to suit climbers of every standard. There are many crags of easy access close to the road, and also those in the mountains for climbers wishing a bit of solitude. These crags boast some of the best-known climbs in the Lake District; Overhanging Bastion, Gazebo, Fast and Furious, Totalitarian, Top Gear, to name but a few.

The line of nearly every route described is shown on a superb series of photodiagrams; not only a great aid to finding your climb, but a real source of inspiration when it comes to choosing which crag to visit.

In addition there are sections on just about everything a climber might find useful in a guidebook, from a list of Climbing Walls for a wet day, to a comprehensive History and First Ascents List. Interspersed throughout is a superb selection of action photographs.
