Referring to Dow and Coppermines (2023): The description for this route is confusing and misleading after pitch 5. This is repeated in LDR 3. It says:
5. 8m Continue to easy ground.
Scramble rightwards to Easy Terrace
6. 18m Follow the well marked grassy terrace leftwards to an awkward corner.
The problem is if you wish to continue up pitch 6 you do not scramble rightwards first. You only do this if you wish to descend after pitch 5.
The previous guidebook Dow Duddon and Slate (1994) was clear and accurate on this point, so it is hard to see why the 2023 author felt the need to change it.
The 1994 book says: East Terrace is gained from here by scrambling down to the right-an option taken by those who do not to continue to the summit ridge.
