Kraken Wall HS. Guidebook says “Enjoyable climbing starting at the foot of a V-groove 3m right of Sunshine. Climb the groove and overhang to a heathery groove. Climb the wall on the right to the top”.
In actual fact there is a groove on the left and on the right a hanging corner with an overhang above and heathery groove above that. The crag diagram on P163 shows the line going to the right through the overhang and and heathery groove above.
The hanging corner has a very hollow sounding horizontal flake, which is the obvious hold to use to reach the overhang. This flake is likely to fail sometime soon. The groove on the left is a much safer option being pleasant climbing about HS standard. Is this the correct way or just a safer variation?
Description: Climb the groove and the overlap at it’s top then climb the wall on the right to the top.
