Warning Pikes Crag Abseil.
The abseil route, which is sometimes used, down the front of Pikes Crag and which starts from the top of Juniper Buttress, now passes through an area of rockfall.
The second abseil is the one that passes the rockfall, which looks like it is quite extensive. The rockfall can be avoided by abseiling down as left as possible (facing inwards) and taking care. The main risk then is throwing the rope down. Our blue rope dislodged a rock that then chopped 15m off our red rope (only just enough left to get down). Throwing the rope down as right as possible (facing out) may avoid this.
Best option is to avoid the abseil for now.
