The club is very sad to announce the death of John M Barrett, past President of the FRCC.
He was a valued long-standing member with many years of very active contribution to the Club and to his local fell-walking community. Latterly a Trustee of the club, he continued to actively engage with the club to ensure its members were best served by its officers and facilities.
John passed away peacefully on 13th February and more details will follow when we receive them.
When I received a phone call early this morning I feared the worst.
John and Carol were the first people I met at the club when I attended my first meet at Raw Head in May 1998. That evening, we went down to Wainwrights Inn for a meal and i knew it was the club for me.
I am extremely proud to say John was my friend.
RIP, John.
