Sharing Rock Climbing Knowledge 2026

Sharing Rock Climbing Knowledge – ropework and all things problem solving for the rock climber.

The focus for the meet is to share ideas, tips and tricks for when things maybe don’t go as planned when out rock climbing. It is being facilitated by Darren Saxton and Simon Willis, both Mountaineering and Climbing Instructors (MCI). There will be a theme of up-skilling and consolidating ideas around areas such as escaping the belay system, simple hoisting, abseiling/lowering past a knot, prussicking and other solutions for when things don’t go as planned when rock climbing – a toolbox of sorts. The specific areas covered will be determined by attendees with it being a practical ‘workshop’ type session.

The plan for the 2 days is on Saturday to do the workshop session at a local crag in the Langdale Valley, followed by a communal meal on the Saturday evening. Sunday will be an opportunity for people to get out climbing for the day (hopefully not having to use the skills covered on the Saturday!)
