Trollers Gill climbing day meet, May 2

This meet was part of the NW Adhoc group’s Tuesday climbing programme.
Five of us met up at Skyreholme, deep in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, for the short and lovely valley walk to the Gill. Until fairly recently Trollers was home to sports climbs in the higher grades mainly. (It is also home to a mythical beast called the Barguest, “gaunt, shaggy and diabolical of aspect” ( Edmund Bogg 1904). We didn’t see the Beast and I don’t think its description fitted any of our team. Honest!)

Recently a crop of grade 5’s and 6’s have been put up, opposite the Main Wall and we had a good day on these.

The Adhoc Group’s programme complements the Club’s published Meets programme and provides a sociable local forum for meeting other Club members and aspirant members, forging new climbing partnerships, car sharing locally and to hut meets etc. We now have about 60 members signed up to the NW (England) Whats app Group. If you want to be added contact Martin Elliott and then watch out for fliers/publicity from Bill Wiseman.

Two more Groups have started recently, in the NE (England) and the Peak District. See the website or Facebook for details.
There may be other parts of the UK where a few Club members could start other Groups?

Back to Trollers! Thanks Colin, Julian, Geoff and Ray for coming, for a good day and for the images.
