France Spring Meet in Val d‘Herault

The 2020 Spring meet in France will be at Camping Le Val d’Herault http://www.camping-levaldherault.com/en/services/ from Saturday 4th April to Saturday 18th April. We’ve not been to this area for ten years but some of those who went then are keen to go again. It’s a slightly wilder area than the vineyards of Provence and there’s plenty of climbing at all grades, cycling, walking, including the Routes des Penitents, and canoeing. The main climbing area, Thaurac, is ten minutes drive from the campsite. Thaurac is quite complex with nearly 20 sectors, not all with do-able routes, and there are half a dozen or more other crags within range and with do-able grades. The campsite is wooded and close, but not too close, to the Herault river. It has it’s own beach on the river and also a nice swimming pool. Water temperatures may be challenging in April though. The campsite is fairly big, not huge, but with plenty of cabins and pitches for tents and vans. If it’s a cabin you want it might be a good idea to reserve one as Easter can be busy. You can reserve now online without payment or commitment. They’ll ask you to commit and put some money down at the end of January.

We’ll send out more info on the crags, topos and how to get them after the AGM. Meanwhile you can contact us – details in handbook.

We are looking forward to seeing you at Val d’Herault.
