FRCC Guidebook (Doe Crag) Centenary Meet

This meet marks the centenary of first FRCC guidebook (Doe Crag) and first ascent of Eliminate A.

2023 is the centenary of the publication by the FRCC of its first guidebook  –  the Red guide to Doe Crag published in 1923.  In 2023 the FRCC is publishing a new guidebook to the Dow Crag area.

17th June is also the centenary of the first ascent of Eliminate A on Dow Crag.

This meet is based in Coniston with easy access to Dow Crag to savour the rock there and use the new guidebook.

On the Saturday evening (17/06/2023) there will be a special reception and buffet to which members and friends are welcome and especially members of the guidebook team and guidebook writers over the years.

Venue

The meet will be based at the Coniston Sports and Social Centre on Shepherds Bridge Lane, Coniston LA21 8AL where camping and campervan together with bar etc facilities are available. 

Past guidebook writers and Club officials have been invited to the reception and other members and guests are welcome to join with a charge of £16 per person, for the buffet, and this should be notified to event organizer –  Ron Kenyon

As mentioned there is the campsite at the Coniston Sports and Social Centre –  this is £12.50 per person per night for camping or in a campervan. Bookings there should be made directly, with indication of attendance at the FRCC Guidebook Centenary Meet.

Needless to say there is a variety of accommodation in the area with Rawhead, Low House (MAM) and other huts,  hotels, B&B and campsites.
